Ketika masih di bangku sekolah menengah, tepatnya SMP Negeri 22 Surabaya dulu, saya pernah memiliki seorang guru agama Kristen Protestan bernama Bapak Sadrakh, yang mengaku tidak pernah mengalami sekali pun sakit, bahkan sekadar flu!

Beberapa waktu yang lampau juga, rekan sepelayanan saya yang akrab dipanggil Pak Ocep, menyebutkan baru pertama kalinya mengalami sakit lumayan berat. Sebelum-sebelumnya tidak pernah sama sekali!

Kita yang mungkin masih dalam keadaan sehat sampai hari ini, patutlah bersyukur.

Gunakanlah setiap waktu serta kesempatan yang baik untuk memuliakan Tuhan, dan melayani Dia.

Sebab, kalau kita betul-betul mau menyadari, bukankah kelanjutan hidup yang kita jalani sampai sekarang sesungguhnya merupakan "penundaan" untuk hari kematian? Apalagi, dengan tubuh yang semakin melemah, serta kemampuan yang menurun seiring usia bertambah.

Pengkhotbah 12:1-7 (VMD), "Ingatlah Penciptamu semasa engkau muda, sebelum masa-masa buruk datang — sebelum tahun-tahun datang apabila engkau mengatakan, 'Aku telah menyia-nyiakan hidupku.'"

REMEMBER [earnestly] also your Creator [that you are not your own, but His property now] in the days of your youth, before the evil days come or the years draw near when you will say [of physical pleasures], I have no enjoyment in them. (AMP)

2 Petrus 3:9 (FAYH), "Tuhan bukan memperlambat kedatangan yang dijanjikan-Nya, meskipun kadang-kadang kelihatannya demikian, melainkan Ia sedang menunggu serta memberikan lebih banyak waktu kepada orang-orang berdosa untuk bertobat, karena Ia tidak menghendaki seorang pun binasa."

Therefore, you should not think that because Christ has not yet come back to judge people, the Lord God is … delaying/slow to do what he promised. Some people think that this is so, and they say that Christ never will come back. But you should understand that the reason why Christ has not yet come back to judge people is that God is being patient towards you, because he does not want anyone to be lost eternally. Instead, he wants everyone to turn away from their sinful behavior. (DEIBLER)

The Lord isn't slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn't want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act. (GWV)

Yohanes 11:14 (TSI), "Mendengar berita itu, Yesus berkata, 'Penyakit itu tidak akan berakhir dengan kematian, tetapi justru untuk kemuliaan Allah. Dan melalui hal itu Aku sebagai Anak Allah juga akan dimuliakan.'"

Tetapi, ketika Yesus mendengar hal itu, Ia berkata, "Penyakitnya bukanlah untuk mematikan, melainkan untuk menyatakan kemuliaan Allah. Aku, Anak Allah, akan dipermuliakan oleh keadaan itu." (FAYH)
